Question about final exit and Ejar contract

insaudi

Hi, I have an Ejar contract that expires in January 2026 with two payments remaining (in July and October of this year). My employment has ended and I'm on my final exit visa and have to leave within the next month and a half. Will my Ejar contract automatically be cancelled upon my final exit from Saudi or will I not be able to exit until I have cancelled it with the landlord? My landlord is not the most cooperative person in the world, can they demand that I pay the remaining two payments? And if they do that, can I refuse to cancel the contract and keep it valid even after I leave the country? Would appreciate help here. It's not clear to me what the rules are in these situations.

You are confusing different things.

Irrespective of contract cancellation, you HAVE to pay the two remaining months.   This is how rental contracts work in Saudi - you have to pay the contracted period unless the landlord waives it.  The benefit of cancelling it now and paying him the two months is that you can potentially get your rental deposit back from Ejar.
