    My wife and I are strongly considering buying a duplex and moving to Lisbon.  The thought is to turn the second floor into a mini suite for my mother in law complete with bathroom and kitchen. When looking at properties, some interesting options have a bathroom upstairs but no kitchen and are in need of an almost full renovation. Can anybody tell me the approximate costs of a full renovation for 95 sq meters including adding a kitchenette to the second floor? Thank you        -@Whipple

May I suggest you supply further information. Such as define "duplex" (as there are multiple meanings) and "full renovation". What type of finishes, any structural changes, does the paperwork allow the changes you envisage? etc.

@Whipple A second floor unit for an elderly person can be difficult to manage. Maybe install a residential elevator? Small footprint.

$25,000 or so here in the US. Dunno about cost or availability in Portugal.
