Food truck

stevenanew

Looking for advice from anyone who has or knows about food trucks. We have a food truck we have all the correct paperwork from health and hygiene, insurances zero hour licence etc etc. But we have a contract with a private landowner to put our truck there but he local council say we need to apply for a permit to trade for them to give us permission but it's private land. Does anyone know if this is correct. They have had our application for 3 weeks. They say if we open without this they will fine us and close us down.

All land in Portugal is private in the sense that it is owned by someone. Restaurants in the center of town are on private land too. To open a restaurant (on wheels or fixed) you need various licences issued by various authorities. If your local authority tells you that you need certain licences then unfortunately you will need them.

@stevenanew,

Here's what you need to do.

Basically, you need to:

1. open an economic activity at the tax office (¹ó¾±²Ô²¹²Ôç²¹²õ). Your activity will be:

CAE 47810 - Comércio a retalho em bancas, feiras e unidades móveis de venda de produtos alimentares, bebidas e tabaco;

2. Have a licence to carry out the activity issued by the town hall where the food truck will be located. Ask your local council about the licence. As far as I know, it doesn't matter if the land is public or private. You are carrying out an economic activity...

Hi Monika,

If you send Steven a private message, maybe he'll notice it more quickly.
