Moving to Annecy in August

jaephyd

Hi all:

Does anyone have advice regarding public schools for a 10, 11, and 12 year old who don't speak French? I've heard that some public schools have language integration support, but I haven't been able to find out which. Both Google and ChatGPT failed to turn up anything. We are flexible about where we can live, but prefer to be near the children's schools.

For background, we plan on moving from Finland with our kids + dog this summer. I'm from the US, but everyone else has Bulgarian/EU citizenship (including the dog I think :) so we're good on immigration. My wife and I both have fully remote jobs, so we're good on employment. My French will come back to me I hope (despite being ignored for 20 years), so I'll survive the language change. It's the education piece I can't figure out.

Of course there are a million things that we don't know that we don't know, so I welcome any other advice you all have to give, but for us it starts with the schools.

Merci!
