Banking in France

Lynnhanrahan

My Husband and I are retired and plan to move to the Bordeaux area within the next two years. We plan to sell our home in the US and buy a home in France.  I believe I first need a bank account to secure utilities, but to open a bank account I need a utility bill?  Can anyone suggest a bank or relocation agency that will work with expats?  I hoped to open my French account while still here in the US. Any recommendations/advice is appreciated!

My Wife and I are planning on moving to France next year and wanted to open a bank account before moving. We now have a non-resident account with BNP Paribas in Rennes, which they claim can be changed to a resident account once we move to France (We shall see)

We have an account with Credit Agricole Britline that is based in Normandy but are English speakers.

We are located in the US, so Britline wasn't an option for us.
