Experience about living in Narbonne or Beziers

cscuglia

Hello,

My name is Catherine and am looking to move to Narbonne or Beziers in the south of France.

I would like to visit first to get a feel for each place.  I will have to bring my dog and cat with me.  Can anybody offer their personal experience about living in either places and what was your process before deciding where to live?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Catherine

hi, we went to Beziers and Narbonne and much preferred Beziers.  Narbonne was rather scruffy, underwhelming and run down which was a surprise but Beziers for a full time home was more interesting and vibrant. Apparently the mayor has a great reinvestment policy and it shows.  Many areas undergoing renovation and there are some rougher areas but beautiful architecture, 3 different markets each week, great shops, cafes and restaurants and good travel connections.  The people were very friendly and we felt safe at all times

We loved it and it was only big family health problem that prevented us for living there.

You have a better climate around Beziers (Hérault) than around Narbonne (Aude). Less wind mainly.... less cold in winter as Narbonne is nearer to the Pyrennees. I am selling properties in both areas so you can consider my opinion as real.
