What removal company did you go with? Off over at end of August to buy / do paperwork etc. Still unsure about whether to use a company or do it ourselves.

Mel, did the removals people take care of all the customs paperwork? Their website info on this is out of date - written when the UK was still in the EU! Or did you find out what paperwork you needed for the things you're taking yourself?

Can I ask please how expensive remal firms are likely to be?

Sorry for the very late reply! They are sorting out all the paperwork, thankfully. We are packing at the moment but struggling to put a realistic price on our stuff for the forms. Any advice?
We had lots of quotes from £3,000 to £8,000, I suggest you shop around until you find a company you are comfortable with.

Mel, maybe ask the removals company what they recommend? If you use actual value of the items as second-hand goods that would reduce the risk of having to pay duties on them, but OTOH  that might then be all the removals company will pay if something is lost or damaged, and the replacement value would be far more.
