Two faces of Thai people

captcapt03

In general, are Thai's more two faced than Westerners? Is it a cultural trait?

Japanese are in fact very much so but I don't have experience with Thai people.

Maybe it's different when they deal with Westerners.

Any thoughts / experiences?

Only Thais can give us the real answer.  But as a non-Thai, I have not experienced or came across 2-faced Thais.  The ones I dealt with are friendly.  Sure if you talk business with them like buying a condo, there will be self-agendas, those are  universal.

In general, no more so than Americans.

I would say that all nationalities are two faced, you will always get this no matter where you are.

This doesn't mean every single person in the world is, just people of all nationalities.

Whenever someone can take advantage of another, and a profit can be made, especially if you are in a poorer country, then it will happen.

Sad, but true.

sajjshiningstar

Good and bad people are everywhere and in every community! It’s not fair to generalise a whole community over a personal good or bad experience with them! My personal experience with Thai people in general has remained very positive till today!

captcapt03

@sajjshiningstar

Well generalizing is necessary to form an opinion.

Are pit bulls dangerous? Yes.

Not all, but in general yes.

So we need to stop being afraid of having a controversial opinion and say what we think .

captcapt03

@Simonbolton

Some are more so than others.

We are Not "all the same".

"Afraid"? See post #3

@captcapt03

Pit Bulls and Humans, both species have totally differing traits and characteristics! Is a scorpion dangerous? yes it is! What’s the comparison of a pit bull and a human or a pack of wolves compared to a community of humans? Even your comparison is not good enough! My dear, animals have different characteristics and nature as compared to humans! It’s no shame to admit a mistake or revoke a hateful comment against a community as whole in the name of bluntness, courage or straightforwardness! Probably your personal experience would have been bitter but we don’t know if in that experience, you were the one with two faces or your opponent! At least share a practical experience of your experience of your own if any! Then we can discuss over it in a better and pragmatic way! Thanks

captcapt03

@Aidan in HCMC

"apprehensive" then?

captcapt03

@sajjshiningstar

We are not talking about animals compared to humans, we are talking about generalizing.  Let me help you with another example,  is air good to breath? Yes in general, but sometimes it's bad to breath. Is water good to drink? In general yes, but sometimes it is not good to drink.

So tell me sajjshingingstar, is the sky blue, is grass green, do men stand when they urinate yes ( you might be an exception ) ?

All are generalizations and as I said, we must generalize in order to form an opinion.

You are unable to refute that FACT so you resort to name calling.

and then you play the "hater" card which is always played when you're unable to refute the FACTS.

There was NOTHING hateful about my question, but YOU are being hateful for LYING about it.

And everyone else regrdless of race, religion, or  country.

This thread is absolute crap - worse - pointless crap.

I watched several  videos this morning. The first was a bunch  of Trump loving racist idiots

Another was a moron from  the UK twistiing a story to make it a race/Muslim thing when it was really an idiot thing.

I also watched pro-Trump and Pro-open immigration into the UK .

The problems every lot have is they treat groups as a body rather than understanding that people vary, and they assume  they are right regardless of available evidence.

This rather pathetic thread is about the same. It's worthy of Daily Mail readers, but nobody with intelligence and common sense.

As for the OP's question - Some will  be two faced, and others won't be. Some will rip tourists off, and some won't. As for the tourists and expats who get ripped off, that depends on how thick they are.

Right - That's that tripe anwered.

captcapt03

@Fred

  We are talking about generalizing.

Generalizingand as I said, must happen in order to form an opinion.

You are unable to refute that FACT.

But you do seem angry with Trump loving racists.  Is that a generalization?

Every Race is different, they are not all the same. There are physical, intellectual and emotional differences. One can generalize using FACTS and Empirical evidence to support this FACT. This is not only natural, it's normal.

Fred, You seem afraid to face those facts for some reason.

Fred

Fred, You seem afraid to face those facts for some reason. - @captcapt03

Not really.

Generalisations based on race are generally a load of old rubbish, just like this daft thread.

Also. You might like to improve your reading comprehension skills. You clearly misunderstood part of my post.

captcapt03

"Generalizations are generally"...?

Fred, you're contradicting yourself.

But not surprising considering your confusion.

Not at all.

I'm taking the micky out of your silly thread.

What you need to do is go to Thailand and find out.

I'll add a spoiler, people react to the person they meet. If you're a nice person, you'll find people are nice to you.

If you're a waste of oxygen, you'll report back about how horrible Thai people are.

What I meant (and should have included) in my post was, "..no more so than Americans, or any other peoples".

People are people.

captcapt03, as "Thai" is both an ethnicity and a nationality, your question will be viewed by some expat.com members as being race-based.

I agree, Fred. This thread should be closed.

Reported to admin.
